Tofukuji Temple (東福寺), very famous for its autumn foliage, is crowded with a great number of visitors everyday. If you visit there, the Hojo garden (方丈庭園) is a must see.
Landscaped by Mr. Shigemori Mirei (重森三玲), a Japanese landscape architect in the Showa (昭和) era, Hojo garden takes you to the world of Karesansui (枯山水, Japanese art of dry rock garden).
Please take a look at those checker patterns with moss blocks and cut stones. How unconventional, modern, and lovely they are!
This is a perfect spot to visit in YUMEYAKATA Kimono (着物). Please try a retro one, or maybe a cute one. Either way, you will enjoy the perfect harmony of Kimono and the beautiful Karesansui in the background.
