Nashiki shrine (梨木神社) at the east side of Gosho (御所) Palace enshrines Sanjo Sanetsumu (三條実萬) and Sanjo Sanetomi (三條実美), a father and son from a court noble clan. They both advocated the Ousei Fukko (王政復古, Restoration of Imperial Rule) from the early stage of Meiji Ishin (明治維新, Meiji restoration) and Sanetomi was consecutively appointed to cabinet minister positions of the new government.
On the premises, there is a natural water spring called Somei no Mizu (染井の水), listed as one of the three top springs in Kyoto. My father used to draw water from it and make a cup of delicious coffee for me. I strongly wish this spring wells up eternally just like my memories of my father.
