Cherry Blossoms and Fushimi Canal Jikkokubune Boats

The Fushimi (伏見) district is very famous for its quality water. That is why Fushimi was described as 伏水 (underground water) in the old times. Since Fushimi is one of the most notable places for Sake (酒, Japanese rice wine) production in Japan, I, as a huge Sake lover, am very excited visiting here.

When Toyotomi Hideyoshi (豊臣秀吉) established Fushimi castle on this land back in the Azuchi-momoyama (安土桃山) period, the water transportation between Fushimi and Osaka (大阪) was developed accordingly.

Today, houseboats called Jikkokubune (十石舟) are in operation carrying sightseers from Sakugura (酒蔵, sake breweries) to Sakagura, in the midst of full blossomed spring flowers.

The problem, of course is, sake or flowers?
