The signature flower of this rainy season in Japan is Ajisai (紫陽花, hydrangeas). The view of pretty purple flowers blooming in the rain is very pleasing to see in this gloomy season. The calm and classy purple color is always loved by many Kyoto residents.
When I was strolling in the Sagano (嵯峨野) area, I found Murasakishikibu (紫式部, Japanese Beautyberry) blossoms, a wild breed of Japan, blooming in harmony with Ajisai. The duet was so beautiful and just breathtaking to me.
